Both will be present, as you know. What I meant is that a SELECT ... UNION can be used for filtering, not necessarily directly. :) There's a little play with it... Maybe a SELECT...UNION...GROUP BY will be better and more direct.

Is there a way of prediciting which will be selected, or will both be present since the records aren't identical. (ie one might be N(8,0) and the other I, or worse, one character and the other a numeric type)
