First, it wasn't a VB class - we all know that VB has no class! <g>
My rule of thumb, FWIW, is that an optiongroup/radio buttons/whatever are acceptable when (A) you have the real estate on the screen AND (B) the typical user can digest all of the available visible options in the optiongroup. The latter might be a function of how long each caption is (i.e. five might be fine if each caption is three-four words, but three or four options might be excessive if the captions are longer.)
As usual, MMV (mileage may vary.)
However, with the capability of inserting a combobox into certain 3rd party toolbars (e.g. ActiveBar), this debate *starts* to go away.
