You really shouldn't consider ActiveDocs a Web feature just because it
runs in the browser. It runs in the browser, but really, it's just a
standalone application hosted inside the browser frame. All the same
restrictions of a standalone apply including the runtime requirement
and lack of automatic download.
Data access to the server is also not supported, unless you can use
TCP/IP directly to connect to your data, but this will be very slow
unless you're using a LAN on an Intranet rather than the Internet.
Most likely an application needs to use things like RDS or or other
HTTP messaging to access data from the server - this requires major
retooling unless apps are simple.
Anybody looking at this technology should carefully evaluate why they're
using it. If it's show you're after ADocs may fit hte bill, but if
functionality is your goal you won't find it with Adocs...

My question is this, do I have to start over from scratch b/c I didn't build my application from the start based on the active document base class? Or, am I ok where I am -- and I can start creating active documents with my current in my current project?
