I am trying to install SQL Workstation on a standalone machine that is running NT Workstation and has no network card outside of a modem. When I run SQL Enterprise Manager to register the server it does not resolve the computer's name and sometimes it tries to activate the modem to connect to a network. When I use RAS and connect to the internet, and then run the SQL Enterprise Manager I can resolve the computer's name without any problem. I have been looking at the different services that I could install to allow the computer to realize it's name without being on the internet. SQL Server is running in the services. Does anyone know how to make it recognize that it is running without being on the internet.
