Hi Aftab,

Second question first, I've posted a DLL in the UT files section (Win32 and other APIs) named lnkfiles.dll. It'll allow you to create one, as well as get and set information from an existing one. If you do not let the user modify the group, you could retrieve the installation directory from the link file using a post-setup executable. This will also allow you to prompt the user if they want a short cut on the desktop. The file comes with a help file in VFP syntax.

hth,
George
