I have several in-house apps that automate Excel and Word, and from time to time, throw errors or lose the OLE connection for seemingly no reason. This is ok in an application where the user can hit cancel and restart the app (if it only happens every once in a while). But in a server-based app, there is no one watching to see if an error has occured, and if the app throws an OLE error message or something that I can't trap, it will appear that my web server has hung.

I am having trouble finding any libraries like I am looking for, so I might end up experimenting with Excel anyway. Anything to keep from turning into a financial analyst :-)
