Just to confirm, DCOM can be installed independent of IE without a problem. The redistribution of DCOM98 has never been clarified by MS, but they have confirmed that DCOM95.EXE for version 1.2 of DCOM, which will update Win95, is redistributable. Win98 comes with DCOM installed by default; NT at SP3 or higher has the DCOM components as well.
