One gotcha with the DB is that you can not open the DB exclusive just by re-issuing the OPEN DBNAME EXCL if the DB is already open. It does not work like tables where if a table is already open and issuing the OPEN MYTABLE EXCL will close the table then reopen the table exclusively. You have to close the DB first, then issue the OPEN DBNAME EXCL.
