Bob,

It sounds to me like you have some sort of hardware problem which is not video related. The possibilities with which I am most familiar are:

-The CPU fan isn't working and, therefore, the CPU is overheating. This almost always results in GPFs.

-Something on your motherboard, such as a capacitor, is failing. This will also cause GPFs.

-One of your memory SIMMS/DIMMS is bad.

Did you get the blue screen of death when doing anything else? An good experiment would be to use the machine all day without using VFP at all and see what happens.
