Larry,
Yes, I have the status bar turned on when running queries, or even indexing... just gives the user something else to watch so they won't think it's 'locked up'. I don't know what could have changed to start causing this - did you recently switch VFP versions? AFAIK, with SET TALK ON and SET STATUS BAR OFF, you would always get the "20 records selected in 0.02 seconds" message printed on the active window.
Of course, you could do like everyone else in the world and blame it on Y2K :)
