In this point I need more information for what exactly
you are going to do,...
but I make an assumption,...:

You're creating a form like "Find File",.. well this was just one of my task that's just finished,..

When it's come to the situation like this, I really love the way Microsoft make it's "Find File",..
Let's consider what if the tables that you're going to search/seek/select contains more then 20000 records and user just misstyped or enter a value that have so many found(), it's process will make your form look like not doing nothing,...

So rather then using SELECT command I'd preferred using SCAN FOR ...=/<>/>/<...
'cause it'll give the fastest peformance (not to forget about what's our main topic here),.. and we can direcly show the result,..in one of object in form i.e Listbox, TreeView(but I'm not recommending using it)

but one thing to consider,.. it's loop is uncontrollable,...!

That's why I'm dying to get a way that would make user can CANCEL the loop,..
and 'till today I only just found,. that LOCATE command is one that works,..
and thank to Erik Moore with his idea my loop can stop smoothly,...

I'll continue my message in next Reply 'cause it's too long here,... but if you want to get more reply,... so put message in boards then we'll continue,...
Thanks for Reading this ,... it's hope this don't hurt your eyes,..he,.. he
