> ... snip ... I'm not sure of how to approach this whole task. I have never before set up a web app and I'm just trying to figure out how all the pieces fit together and what my options are. I am not the Webmaster, and don't know a lot about the intranet structure. I can find out whatever I need to know, but at the moment am not sure even of what questions to ask! :)

Ellen:

I got started by using Rick's WebConnect. I was able to create pages with text boxes for input, a command button to submit the data, a call to the VFP function in the Web Connect software, then a return page back to the browser with the information they requested. The VFP function accessed the appropriate data store in a VFP table in a VFP DBC. WC comes with the code and documentation on setting this up. I just made a copy of the code, added my code to it, recompiled and started it up. I do not remeber what server you are running, but WC was designed to run primarily on an NT server. During development, I ran MS Personal Web Server (PWS) on my own Win95 machine. Because my computer is directly connected to our LAN which is IP enabled, I could access my machine via browsers from any other computer in our Agency. I could also access from the outside world because I configured it for that just out of curiosity. Then I came back and disabled that feature.

Compared to what my time is worth, WC is inexpensive compared to how much time it would have cost me to come up with what WC initially provided.
