I agree with Sylvain. A rewrite is better so that you can take advantage of the new features of VFP. I converted a 2.6 dos app to VFP3 and it was a mistake. The screen were ugly and overly complex (a lot of page frames are used to simulate the read state of 2.6). My learning curve for VFP was protracted because I used the converted screens as the ideas for any new screens, which was not the way to go. Also a "converted" app will just give you a slow version of your old application.
