There's a good source of information on address formatting available from the US Postal Service called the IMM (International Mailing Manual); it's available in print and on CD from them, and the CD version contains some useful utilities for looking up service availability and pricing for mail outbound from the US. there's a corresponding document called the DMM (Domestic mail Manual) which goes into horrid detail on how to do mailing within the US itself, including information on BMC and DBMC bulk mailing, POSTCODE requirements and the like.

You see, the US Post Awful is good for something besides losing important mail!
