You can use the MSCOMM32.OCX communications control, which ships with VFP, to control serial devices; it provides an OLE interface to serial communications, so you could write your own code to open the comm port, and send commands to the modem to dial and hang up when appropriate.

A better alternative would be to purchase a third-party package; my recommendation would be to buy a TAPI ActiveX control to do the work for you; a good source for such would be Component Source, a web-based vendor of add-on products for a variety of programming languages. The have a number of products that they sell which are known to work with VFP, and in many cases, can provide an evaluation copy so that you can test it and make sure it does the job for you. They're a good vendor for ActiveX controls, function libraries, Install products, help file generators and the like, and they've been helpful in the past when I was looking for various products.

HalloGram is another company that specializes in add-ons; they're a member of the UT Partnership program, and carry several packages for doing serial communications with all versions of FoxPro and Visual FoxPro. You can click on their link in the top right frame of the UT web display to reach their home page.

Good luck,

Ed
