I am trying to create error handling in my forms. I am using the data environment to open my tables. If there is a problem, such as exclusive file lock or missing file I am trying to stop the form load before the form is loaded. I have created error trapping in the error method of the data to catch the various possible errors and then set a form property to true that a data load error occured.

I then try to stop the form at this point, within the form init process, after letting the user know that an error occured but no matter where I put a form release the code still goes thru the init and activation of the form.

Am I on the wrong track or is there something I am missing.

Any help would be appreciated.

BTW this is currently VFP5.
