ANSWERING MYSELF (good stuff)
If anyone needs to know -
Adding command buttons to your screen (activeform) can take away the SetFocus commanded even if the command-button-object is not enabled!
After setting the command button object TabStop property to false on both disabled buttons, control for the SetFocus was restored.
