NO VFP is not the only tool for database applications. It is far better than VB for database stuff though. It is a developer's language unlike Access which is a desktop tool. Access has problems with data table sizes that approach 100,000 records, while VFP handles 100,000,000's of record without difficulty.

VFP is also object oriented, niether VB nor Access are. VB is a fine language and it can be used ror database applications, it is just that it is not focused on database applications and therefore doesn't have the same natural fit to the task that VFP has. Many types of pplications are better done using VB over VFP but databases is not one of them.
