>>Michel, Why bother with the Cell phone? Use the new Riccochet Wireless technology, and all you need is the laptop.

I should probably start a new thread but....
Company: Ricochet
Phone: 1-800-GO WIRELESS
Web:
www.ricochet.netI misspelled the name in my previous message. It's Ricochet, and it's a net connection with a wireless modem. Transmitters/boosters are placed in several metropolitan areas. San Francisco/Silicon Valley, Seattle, Washington DC and 'corporate and university sites' (from their ad).
I have a friend who ordered one to save installing multiple phone lines. From his office it works very well, but from his house less so, because the transmitter is quite a ways off. He likes it for e-mail and news groups, but says that the more-frequent connect time of web-surfing (or in our case UT surfing) can break up more often than phone lines at his house. No problem at the office. Overall he likes it. It would be marvelous for a salesman who works in a relatively local area (where there are transmitters) but can't reach a phone line.
I mentioned it because one of their ads shows the company president roller-blading with his laptop. Seemed apropos to your skiing.
I'll send the ad by snail-mail, since I need to send you a check anyway.
