I'm gone break character here (I prefer to avoid negative/bashing threads), but since the nature of this business is based on rapid change, and since I've been left behind in the past while buried alive under older technologies...

I feel my intelligence is insulted whenever M$ documentation assumes the average programmer has a certain knowledge base. If you know your shit, you should be able to take a generalized statement like the one your trying to beat up on, and use it according to your needs. In fact, whenever a gleam an insight from M$ document I assume I'm missing something if I use that info verbatim. So I agree with Jim B., I think your point is moot. Granted we have plenty of M$ nervy things to legitimately gripe about, but in this case I would rather gripe about the fact that help builders/tools change every few year when really the basic functionality needs do not increase to justify a change. But is this gripe going to keep me from developing HTML Help? Absolutely not, I dont want our clients to think their app isn't current just because it uses Win style help.

Just my US$.02 worth
