We are fortunate in Houston to have many brewing supply stores with bulk grains and extracts. We also have a very strong brewing community with at least 5 clubs, so there is a lot of expertise to go around. I think that being the 4th largest city in the US and the petrochemical industry help to make brewing so popular. Many oil field workers spend years in places like Saudi Arabia, where they have to make their own beer on the company compounds.
