>UPS have just installed this "state of the art" shipping system at our company that includes a PC running Windows 3.1. I can't upgrade the operating system of this PC because they say their software will not work with Win 95 or 98.

Not on that machine; VFP5 apps won't run under Win32S. You could use something like PCAnywhere or Terminal Server or Citrix, but that'd defeat the purpose...

What UPS software are you running? I'm pretty familiar with their offerings, and they have a number of packages that will run under Win9x, including UPSLink/UPSOnLine. Failing that, Pitney Bowes (one of my clients) sells a number of systems that are capable of doing everything that you migth need or want to do with UPS, but the systems aren't free. If you send me an email with the name and phone number for someone at the company who could authorize the purchase of a low-end shipping system, I could pass the information along to the appropriate sales group at PB.

Other vendors you might consider contacting include TAN Data and Aristo.
