The problem you're encountering is that reports in the Windows environment send characters as graphics rather than as ASCII characters. You can add a print driver for a generic printer and assign that to the same printer port you have the dot matrix printer on, giving it a different name; when you want ot send ASCII text only to the printer, you'd assign the generic printer for output and send your report to it. You'd have to add any formatting characters to the output by calling UDFs in the proper places that send control codes via ??? commands.
