Carl, with tables created by VFP 3.0 or later, the Jet engine is probably the wrong choice; the header information is different, especially with tables that are a part of a .DBC, and new data types are supported.

I'd recommend using ADO and the VFP ODBC driver that comes in the MDAC or with Studio.
