I never figured it out, but the users said the actually LIKED the 'flash' as the SetFocus occurred. I was going to take it out but using LockScreen, but they asked it be left in as they could focus easily on where the new record was on the screen.

Now when you bring this subject up, my experience (in a role of an user) is that these slight delays, rhythm of the things appearing and moving on the screen, is something that largely defines the "look & feel" of an app. It doesn't really matter if it's this way or another, but it's essential that it doesn't radically change between versions. I hated that when I was using other software.
