>How do ya'll ( kings english ) feel about West Wind and its apparent commitment to foxisapi?
West-Wind is not commited to FoxISAPI at all. Rick has written his own DLL to handle requests, and West-Wind web Connection uses it, not FoxISAPI.
>Is this a viable alternative or is there currently something better or at least competitive ?
There are other products; XWorks, FoxWeb etc. I have never used them. From what I understand, hey are both fairly eesy to work with, and can both get the job sone effectively.
My personal opinion? Forget about them. Use WWWC. It's hands down the best third-party tool I have ever worked with. I have written very complex, very feature filled websites with it, and honestly believe that the speed of development, response speed, and ease of maintenance would not have been possible with any other product. If there is any doubt in your mind, download the eval version and follow the docs step by step to set up the beginning site, and I am confident tht you will be impressed with both its power and ease of use.
>Is there something in the pipeline that will blow all this away? Even though I >know there are no guarantees against this, I would hate to waste a lot of time tuning in to technology that will shortly disappear.
I doubt it. Rick does an awesome job of keeping with the current technology and even paving new roads (he had ASP style pages built into WWWC before MS even introduced ASP). If something new and better comes along, you can be confident that you will see it implemented in future versions of WWWC.
