I couldn't answer this definitively, because the companies I work for either have their own server in-house, or Co-Locate their own server at an ISP.

I recommend just setting up a server at your house, or at work. Your friends wouldn't be able to access it (unless you multi-link to your ISP, and have received your own permanent IP address), but this would be enough to let you prototype your web app and see it in action.
