>We have tables that when we pack them or do a significant amount of replaces, it acts like it's adding two spaces to each record. Therefore, the data is being 'pushed' to the right two spaces. It is happening in large and small tables, we've re-created tables and indexes and it happens on multiple machines even on one NT 4.0 machine.

Sounds like you have some table corruption. Take a look at FoxFix or other DBF repair tool.
