Textboxes (and other controls) can have either an Opaque or Transparent background. If transparent, then the control has the color of the object behind it (e.g., parent object or a form). If the background color of the textbox is different from the parent behind it, then the textbox assumes that background color when it has focus, even if transparent. If you want the background color not to change, you need to set it to the same color as the parent object.
