I see the occasional copy at Barnes and Nobles but nothing like it used to be....seems like FTP is taking over shelf space with their interminable variations on a theme, ie, "VBPJ","VBPJ's Guide to VS","VBPJ's Guide to SQL Server","FTP's Guide to VS","FTP's Guide to SQL Server","FTP's Guide to VBPJ","VBPJ's Guide to FTP", ad nauseum.

>>With all this talk about whether use of VFP is increasing or decreasing, I think a metric needs to be established...I think a good metric would be circulation figues for FoxTalk and FoxPro Advisor.
>>
>>In the Jan '99 issue of FPA, there is a circulation notice that shows average 12 month figure as well as for the single month of October 98 (this is on Page 52 for anyone interested)...
>>
>>If you look real carefully, you see the average circulation for the past 12 months (Nov 97 - Oct 98 presumably) was 14,369 but the single-issue circulation for Oct 98 is 13,400. This is a decline.
>>
>>Dealer/vendor sales: 1,501 avg, 1,260 for Oct 98 (decline)
>>Total distribution: 10,357 avg, 9,593 for Oct 98 (decline)
>>
>>These numbers don't look good. Can anybody provide similar numbers for other years or for FoxTalk?

>As far as the dealer/vendor sales figure, that has a lot to do with the fact that NOBODY SELLS THE FRAGGIN' THING!
>
>In the past three years, I've seen 4 major bookstores and 4 newspaper stands that I frequent stop carrying FoxPro Advisor. At the same time, these same stores have started carrying magazines on VB, VC, VJ, Delphi, and Linux. Was it because nobody was buying the magazines, or becuase there is a limited amount of shelf space and the new magazines were about the hot, headline-grabbing tool of the day? I don't know for sure, but I agree that those distribution and circulation figures are pretty bad.
