Hi,

We have a single NT server set up with PDC running NETBUI,IPX,TCP/IP although we don't use TCP/IP). We also use pcAnywhere v8 for remote support (no RAS). Sometimes when adding or changing application and data files using pcAnywhere, the shares in the directory we were working in become scrambled. We know when this happens as users quickly report the 1705 error.

Just yesterday we had the same problem. Went in via pcAnywhere, tried the application remotely all worked OK, then reset the shares for the particular directory, still no go for users connected via the network.

Checked the NT event log and found that there was a DHCP error which had just popped up in the last two weeks. This error was being reported every six minutes in the log. No idea why this should happen after two years of faultless operation. Anyway, for a quick fix, removed TCP/IP (never used anyway) and everything then worked OK.

Hope this may help.

Regards
Doug Johnston
