Fred, you said it very well. M$ is to big, disorganized and very political.
FP is the red headed step child becasue it's foregin to M$. Purchased for it's ability and staff's skill. That skill was leveraged to SQL ? so says the grape vine.

Listening to M$ is about as absurd as believing political commercials. It's all a crock. In an environment that changes as fast as this, FP has stood the ground. I would love to see a name change. Something to give everyone something to talk about.

Would the press reps know anything in a press release?

So let's think of the new name.

>>Hi Fred,
>>
>>Let's *assume* that your assertion is correct and 'M$ is scared of VFP'.
>>
>>Wouldn't this show even poorer judgement than even the most critical MS basher would attribute to them??? - they could try to sell their bigger, fancier (read: much more expensive and very very complex) solution and, if that looks like a loser, bring in VFP to virtually assure the sale.
>>
>>More seriously, MS has lots of products that compete with each other and that doesn't stop them from marketing them, upgrading them, responding to customer wants/needs, etc.
>>
>>Finally, it's just another theory that lets MS off the hook. We will only know what the REAL situation is when we let MS speak for itself.

>I'm NOT speaking for M$, in any way shape or form, nor am I defending them. I really, really would love to hear it straight from the horse's mouth myself. All I know from my personal and my company's dealing with them, is that the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. They are extremely disorganized, both in how they present their products to the public, and in their support of their products to us developers. My comment of M$ being terrified applies to the poor person(s) that has to explain to Billy G. that his beloved Basic just doesn't cut it, no what flavor it may come in. Would *YOU* want to be in that position? I certainly wouldn't!

>In NO WAY am I trying to let them off the hook! I would love to hear an explanation from them why VFP is bring treated like "The Red Headed Step Child"! And without any marketing "spin" applied, thank-you-very-much!

>>>M$ is scared of VFP. It's a product that they sell that COMPETES with EVERY OTHER product that they sell. They just don't quite know what to do with it for fear that it will reduce their sales in other markets.
