I'm using DB2 universal db for NT to test but the live system will be in a RISC box.
If I understand you correctly, I should define the date fields in db2 as text. Does that mean I have to define them that way in vfp?
Just some background:
I am receiving EDI transactions inbound through vfp system and loading into vfp databases for processing. At the end of the process I want to take all newly received records and bulk add them to the db2 tables. I would love to use append or if needed, a line by line Insert Sql command. I would hate to have to hardcode date to string conversions for specific fields if possible to avoid changing the code if a data field is added.
Also defining date fields on the either side as text would have a negative effect on my processing. After the records are in db2 I have some vfp reporting functions accessing the records by date range.
I appreciate any input you can give on this.
