Teach Yourself VB5 in 21 days
If you do not know anything about VB

Teach Yourself Database Programming in 21 days
If you know VFP, this book is too basic.

Database Access with VB5
The best book I've read on VB database programming. (I've not finished reading it yet, but I really appreciate till now).

Visual Basic 5, Object oriented programming
Very good book on doing oop with VB5

Like you said, I found that there is lots of VB books. I suggest you to go to Amazon web site (www.amazon.com). You can read about many VB books and also the critics of people that read 'em.
