I don't know if this is particularly helpful, but there's a set of DCOM Services for non-Windows environments available for download from Microsoft's Web Site for MSDN Universal Subscription holders (if you don't have a Universal subscription, I don't know where you can get the necessary components.) It might be available elsewhere via MSDN Online.

If there's a mechanism to let the application poll the Unix server to see if the condirtion is met, rather than having the Unix box start a remote automation session, such as watching for a file appearing in a known location on the Unix box, that might be an easier approach to the problem.
