I like the concept. I still say that a New & Improved VFP will be a yawn.

Now could M$ take the concept you described and bend PCWeeks arm for a 2 page ad? Sure. Would that get read as a NEW direction by M$. Yes.

I want the FP droped. It's what I call a deal killer when you are talking big account business. Granted there are ton's of tiny FP apps that run in Fortune 1000 companys. But will they look to FP for future big ones ? I don't thinks so. Not without being draged kicking and screaming.

But if M$ does the full body slam on PC-Week. IT Departments will look at the new technology. Especially if M$ does some certification demands on theis new product. When the product is considered to be a part of their core development tools then the IT managers will want the services of your company and myself.

What does the product name FoxPro do for your business? Outside of a few odd calls about fixing something "foxpro" do people call to get a foxpro program written? Or do they call on a referral because you did the right thing for someone else. That's how my business has been. Each time is a new business environment.

I know of 3 people in town that have too much business in Access. They turn down projects weekly. They are good at what they do and they are connected in this area, so in a business networking position they are on top.

I have replaced a few Access projects where the data was not available or was too slow to keep anything historical. How many access projects require owners to keep purging completed transactions in response to a slow system?

>Ok, I read this thread and someone said lets come-up with a name. Well that is nice and dandy. But still who is going to know about it.

>I say, keep the name (it is an identifiable name) and lets get companies or persons to chip in $250-$500 ($500 gets you bigger font) to form a consortium, to place full page ads in Computerworld (or some other trade rag). The ad would advertise the strengths of VFP and those who use it. We can also setup a website.

>In return, the companies names and web site addresses will be printed in the ad. We can say for example:
>
> Picture of a cartoon of a programmer using a bazooka trying to kill a bug.
