Thanks Mark,
This part (the first join) is working fine the problem is in incorporating the second select where I determine if the corresponding record exists in the data table.

From the command window I can create the first view (people to genref) then create the second view, record exists with people and description info but when I try to call the stored view to populate the second view, in a data environment, it prompts me for a table name (can't find the view) which is probably a reasonable circumstance since Fox wants to create a view from a table. This is one of those times when I feel as though this should be simple but the syntax is escaping me. (Wouldn't be the first time that I was wrong)
