If I go to modify a report form and then run a report I hang up. If I switch my default printer from HP to something else the problem goes away. My question is is there somewhere else I need to issue =_fpreset()? Is modifying the report accessing the printer driver somewhere that I am not aware of?

If you use the preview facility, it very well might; some of the formatting is done through the printer driver, so you might try doing the _fpreset() before issuing a MODIFY REPORT, or running it from a command line before exiting from the screen designer.
