Good project done in VFP will do the best promotion of VFP.

It is true that in Canada (my city Montreal) big corporate do not what to use VFP. It is for some good raisons and some bad raisons. At my user's group ( Up to 120 active members) we found that most developers in VFP are independent consultant using it for small and medium enterprises projects.

Big corporate normally have Intranet install and DNA application in development. Staff in VFP will cost more then staff in VB so that why VB is the language in Montreal. You can use VFP for a DNA application but at one point you will need VB. So why not only VB.

A VFP user's group in your city will help promote VFP. Ottawa have a VFP user's Group? Can you give me that president name and EMail of this user group?
