This is a good point. For KSoft, the revenue stream for Visual dBase may be good in relation to the license fee they pay to Inprise. Essentially, Inprise is giving up the headaches, overhead expense, etc to somebody else, without giving up ownership. And, the best part of all, they actually have somebody paying for the privledge...
Clearly, it is not a positive thing. Visual dBase is being spun-off to some extent because it is viewed as not being strategic. I certainly would not want VFP to suffer the same fate....
