I've used both Mabry and SocketTools to accomplish what you are looking for. I've had better success with end users when I went to the Mabry Controls. I'm using their RAS dialer and the SMTP control. I don't recall the problems I had with the SocketTools (Visual Edition) and they have a new version out but I've already got it working fine so I'm not interested in switching.
