Be forewarned...
I used .msk files extensively in a project and it looked great. Whites were whites when I wanted them to be. Then I shipped the product and kept getting calls from users asking why I had 'red' buttons and some really odd color combinations. Found out that some users who changed their Windows color combinations had problems displaying anything where I used a .msk file. I ended up removing them and I settle for ugly grays.
