>Yes VFP is alive and well on this site but no one outside of this forum gives a... about fox, most of them don't even no it exists... look at corporate canada as an example, I work now strickly in VB as no one in my city (ottawa) know anything about fox, so yes it does need promotion.
Patrick,
So, go promote it! If no one in your city knows anything about VFP, then you locals are not marketing it well. You cannot expect MS to shoulder all of the burden.
Points to make:
1. VFP is THE premier MS data basing language. It ain't written by Podunk Software Corp.
2. It is designed from top to bottom to interface neatly with virtually all SQL, for those who like client server.
3. It is the only RELATIONAL data-base MS has (I think that's correct -- Access is not true relational.)
4. For complex file management solutions (and what business has SIMPLE file managment needs. Even customers who have simple data managment needs think they're complex.) -- it is the natural platform.
5. VB is not OOP, only OOP-like. VFP is OOP.
6. With ActiveX, VFP can be made to look like VB -- for those who like the look.
I'm sure there are many more, but these usually work for me.
