In an effort to put a different spin on the negatives I keep reading on the various threads, I offer the following argument with no research whatsoever on the assumed numbers because the bottom line is convincing in its own right.

Say the following figures are in the ballpark :-

Every 2 years VFP is upgraded and sells for say $250.00
Say during that currency period (2 years) 200,000 copies of ugrades are sold

Sales would therefore be $50M or $25M in each year.

Now for further outlandish guesstimates, this time on the cost line :-

There are 30 people in the VFP team including marketing (where there appears to be very few).

An average cost per person with overhead recoveries applied could be $200K per annum.

Costs would therefore be $6.0 M per annum yielding $19M per annum Gross Profit.

I certainly believe that it 'aint' that simple but if those numbers are anywhere near the mark, there is no business case to kill VFP, but there is an overwhelming business case to continue profitable development on a 2 year cycle basis.

I am sure there are others who would have more informed judgement on the above figures.
