Is the second control bound to a control source?
Is the field you're searching on the primary key field?

You didn't ask about this part (but use foxers are a nosy lot < s >)...But if it is, have you considered using surrogate primary keys? Also, why can't you just seek or locate the record in the first open table? YOu are incurring overhead that may not be necessary.

>What I am doing is trying to find an existing record. There 2 fields on the form that show the same infomation. One for display and one to search. In valid to search for a record I open the table a second time with an alias. When I find a record I close the second occurrence and try to GO to the found record. This what cause the error. A seek or locate also cause the error.
