I think you misunderstanding. We are talking about Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year is different from Western New Year(1 Jan on every year). The first day of the new year is calculate by a very special formula. Only a few people know who to calculate. Every year we use 12 kinds of animals to represent. This year is year of cow, last year is year of mouse.
