Here is a neat trick I and some others here have found.
If you copy these files:
c:\winnt\system32\ Vfp6r.dll
C:\winnt\system32\ Vfp6renu.dll
C:\winnt\system32\ Vfp6run
C:\winnt\system32\ ole32.dll
C:\winnt\system32\ oleaut32.dll
c:\winnt\system32\ msvcrt.dll
into your application's main directory(where the EXE file is)you will be able to run the exe from a shared network drive without a client install !!! Of course, this will load slower than doing a client install and having an individual EXE on each client. But, in case you ever need to do this it is nice to know that it is possible. We find it useful because we can make changes and create a new EXE on the server without having to update the EXE on each and every client. We have only tried this using VFP 6.0. I'm not sure it works with VFP 5.0. There is also a shareware program I found and tested called Aspack. It compresses Your Exe and Dll Files, But Still Allows Them to Run Exactly As Before ... my testing proved to me that compressed programs load
MUCH faster. Not only do our EXE's load in half the time now, and work
exactly like they did before the files were compressed.. but the size
of all the files in the directory was reduced to less than half -
