I will be researching the same VERY soon.

Frankly, I have grown disgusted with the whole Microsoft NT/SQL Server/Access/VB/VFP/MTS/COM/nTier hairball and want to begin to minimize dependencies on MS technologies.

VFP is a great tool and I will continue to use it - hopefully with other non-MS products.
