Keep in mind that the answer to your question is also dependent on what version of Word. Office 97 (Word8) introduced Word (and us) to VBA for Word. There is a help file that you can choose to installed for VBA on your Office install CD. Another tip-use the macro recorder in Word and the check out the code it created to help you undestand what you need in VFP.
