>Since you're interested :), imagine a diamond company ... with sites in Antwerp, Tel Aviv and New York. The account related table is not difficult to manage (I think) but what keeps me awake at night are the internal inventory operations like sorting and mixing goods, where part of the information is on the site (the actual weights for example), but sometimes estimation prices are established somewhere else at a different time ... and in the meanwhile the goods may have to be shipped to a third site that may already have partially sold it.

HI Mark,
We use a database server engine called Sybase Anywhere 5.5.04.
Not a big thing, a smart piece of software.
We use that engine both on servers and local installs as a back-end to a VFP app. It runs nicely and can be installed easily - neither oracle nor SQL server,
real short install and limited admin... not costly by the way.
On top of being an efficient tandem, this solution includes a simple and smart mechanics for replication including off-line and bidirectional replication,
SQL REMOTE.
It it a proved solution for companies that manage salespersons on the move, distant location with no permanent network, database consolidation ...
We have not used this SQL REMOTE facility but it is a proved solution !
I believe, but can not garantee, that you could let the database engine
do most of the database reconciliation rather than coding in vfp itself.
I can give you more information on this the engine, if you wish.
Just send me a private mail.
François
